DESCRIPTION
The Kayli backpack is a practical companion for everyday life. It offers a clean design with small details. Equipped with both, size-adjustable shoulder straps and handles on top, it is handy and offers possibilities for contrasts with its visibly sewn-on strap at the front. It has a front pocket on the outside, as well as a large inside pocket and a small zip pocket to hold things like keys. It fits A4 sizes. The pattern is designed for mid to heavy weight fabrics such as canvas and has a seam allowance of 1 cm/ 3/8” included on all pattern pieces.

FABRIC CHOICE
Since the backpack requests some structure, firmer fabrics such as canvas, oilcloth, etc. are recommended for the outside and inside of the backpack. Even though the inside fabric is called lining, it’s not the usual thin lining fabric that is used in garment making but fabrics with body. It is important to note that the thickness also affects the sewing ability of your machine. Choose the fabric in a quality that it can still be processed by your machine even with several layers using a heavy duty needle such as for denim. For thinner fabrics without much body, you can add a layer of stabilizing interfacing such as the M12 from Vlieseline or a mousse like Style-Vil from Vlieseline, which will be sewn together with the outer fabric. Common fusible interfacing is only recommended in light weight (e.g. VlieselineH180) and for fusing the lining. If you prefer to add structure to the outside fabric, fusible H630 by Vlieseline is recommended.

85 cm / 34” infinity bag zipper, including 2 sliders, optional a third if you prefer a two-way zipper. If you can’t find infinity zipper or sliders, you can also use two ready made zippers and shorten them to the needed length (see next page)  after sewing them in.
