About the Alea PDF Pattern
Alea is a relaxed fit design that combines classic shirt styling with feminine and modern elements. The pattern comes in two lengths, a shirt or shirt dress with side seam splits. The dress has an option for a gathered waist. This dropped shoulder design includes several sleeve options. A classic cuffed sleeve, sleeveless and a gathered hem sleeve that can be varied in length and finish.
Alea offers two collar options, a classic shirt collar or a modern variation of the stand up collar. Both variations are designed to be worn open or closed. The pattern includes an optional slanted patch pocket with flap.

It is recommended to consider your own measurements as well as the finished size chart when choosing a size. You can size up to achieve a generous oversized look or down to achieve a more fitted look. The blouse can be either worn out or tucked into bottoms. The dress can be worn either loose at the waist, fitted with the elastic waist included in the pattern, or simply with a belt or waist tie. It is recommended to size down one size for View D.
This is an intermediate pattern that is also good for accomplished beginners or first go at a button up pattern. It uses the following sewing skills.

The pattern is designed for a height of 170cm (5’7”). Adjustments in length can be done through the lengthening or shortening lines through the waist and hip and at the hem. Given it’s relaxed fit this style can be comfortably worn by bust size A through to G.
Variations and hacks
There are many pattern hack options to be explored for this pattern. Add front & back yokes for design interest. Reduce the length of the shirt and add gathered tiers to create a fun baby doll dress.
Fabric
This top and dress is suitable for mid weight, woven fabrics like linen, cotton, tencel, viscose, rayon or poplin. Or you can create a softer shell using lightweight versions of the above. Make sure you wash your fabric prior to cutting your garment to reduce the risk of shrinkage.
