ABOUT ALEA
Alea is a relaxed fit design that combines classic shirt styling with feminine and modern elements. The pattern is available in two lengths with both dropped shoulder design, as a shirt or as a shirt dress with side seam splits. For the dress length there is an optional gathered, elasticated waist or a loose fit. Alea is available with several different sleeve options. A standard shirt or bishop sleeve with cuffs (views A & B), a gathered sleeve that can be varied in length and finish (styles C & D) and a sleeveless option (style E) are available. All design elements can be combined with each other. Alea offers two collar designs, a classic shirt collar or a modern version of the stand-up collar. Both variations are designed to be worn open or closed. The pattern also includes an optional slanted patch pocket with flap. The seam allowance of 1 cm (⅜”) is included in all pattern pieces.
The sewing pattern requires the following sewing skills, which can also be learnt by watching the accompanying video on YouTube:
- button placket and cuff construction
- understitching
- sewing buttonholes
- sewing of bias bind

FABRIC CHOICE
Cleo is designed for woven fabrics. If you want a little more structure, linen, poplin, and similar fabrics are the right choice. If you want a breezy look, fluid fabrics made from viscose, tencel or silk in a thin quality, for example, are recommended.

CUSTOMER INFORMATION: The Alea pattern was already published in 2022 as a cooperation pattern with an Australian label. The cooperation was cancelled and the copyright now lies solely with SEW.LALA PATTERS. The basic design of the pattern has not been changed, but the instructions and printing files have been completely revised.
